Help With Puzzles

KEYS:
TAB moves the arrow one box to the right. 
BACKSPACE moves the arrow back one box.
SPACE BAR adds an empty space.

Backbone

In a backbone, the center strip is the answer to the question at the top of the puzzle.  If you answer all the other questions correctly, this answer will show up in the center strip.

1. Click anywhere in the boxes of the question you want to answer and type in the word.

2. Press ENTER.

3. If you are right, you will hear a bell.  If you are wrong, the word will disappear and you have to try again.

4. When you answer all of the questions, you will see the word you are looking for in the dark boxes running up and down.

Crostic

In a crostic, each number is actually equal to a letter.  You have to figure out which letter the number is supposed to be by answering the questions.  When you do that, you will figure out the answer to the question at the top.

1. Click anywhere in the empty line of the question you want to answer and type in the word.

2. Press ENTER.

3. If you are right, you will hear a sound.  If you are wrong, the word will disappear and you have to try again.

4. Each time you answer a question correctly,  the letters that you have gotten right will show up in the answer at the bottom.

Crostic Crossword

A crostic crossword is a cross between a full crossword or an open crossword and a crostic.  When you answer the questions in the crossword part correctly, you will find the answer to the crostic part.  

 



Framework

In a framework, all of the words at the bottom are fit into a puzzle that looks like a crossword.  By looking at the size of the words and where certain letters are, you must figure out where the words go.   Each word can only go into one place in the framework

1. Click in the box you want to place a letter in and then type.

2. After you type a letter, the arrow will move one box in the direction it is pointing, if the box is open.

3. If you want to change the direction of the arrow, just click in the same box once and the arrow will change direction.

Picture Builder

In a picture builder, you are trying to put the pieces of a picture back together.  Each question answered correctly will give you a piece.

1. Click on the equation you want to answer and type in the number.

2. Press ENTER when you are finished.

3.  If you are right, a piece of the puzzle will show up on the screen.  If you are wrong, you have to try again.

Picture Fill-In

In a picture fill-in, you are trying to make a picture by filling in the correct squares.

1. Click on the box you think is correct.

2.  If you are right, the box will turn black and you will have a piece of your picture.  If you are wrong, you have to try again.

Word Seek

In a word seek, you are trying to find all of the words hidden in the letters of the puzzles.  Depending on the word seek puzzle, words might go left to right and top to bottom--or they might go backwards, upside down or diagonally.


1. Find the word you want to circle in the letters of the puzzle.

2. Click on the letter at one end of the word and a box will appear around the letter.

3. Then click on the letter at the other end of the word and the word will be circled.
