heat exhaustion
Sickness caused by getting too hot.  People who have heat exhaustion can have headaches, upset stomachs and feel weak.  They need to drink water and go somplace cool.  Heat exhaustion sometimes happens on hot days and means the person needs to take it a little easier.
heat stroke
Very serious sickness caused by getting too hot.   Sometimes people who have heat stroke have sweated so much that they can't sweat anymore and feel totally dry when they should be wet.  They need to get medical attention very quickly and things should be done to cool them down as fast as possible, like putting cool towels dipped in water on them.  Heat stroke can easily be prevented by not pushing yourself too hard on a hot day!
Himalayas
(say him-uh-LAY-uz)
The highest mountains in the world.  The Himalayas are in Asia, along the norther border of India and the southwestern border of China.  Mt. Everest, the tallest mountain in the world, is in the Himalayas.  In fact, more than 25 of the highest mountains in the world are in the Himalayas!

The amount of water in the air.  When it rains, the humidity is very high.  when the humidity is high, it can be uncomfortable to be outdoors, especially if you are exercising and getting hot and sweaty.
hydrate
(say HI-drate)
To put water into something, in this case a person.  If a person needs water, is very important that they drink a lot of it as soon as possible.
hyperthermia
Sickness caused by getting too hot.   "Hyper" means high and "thermia" means heat--so hyperthermia means "high heat."  Both heat exhaustion and heat stroke are types of hyperthermia.   Hyperthermia does not happen if you act properly and drink a lot of water!
hypothermia
Same thing as exposure.   "Hypo" means low and "thermia" means heat--so hypothermia means "low heat."  Hypothermia does not happen if you act and dress the way you should!
